About the FCVQ - Festival de cinéma de la ville de Québec
For over 15 years, the Festival de cinéma de la Ville de Québec (FCVQ) has offered audiences in the Capitale-Nationale region and Eastern Québec their largest celebration of cinema. Between fiction and documentary, short and feature films, local cinema and international works, FCVQ presents a rich, contemporary, and diverse program that brings together both passionate film lovers and the general public in a festive and welcoming atmosphere.
Each year, the festival presents hundreds of films from all over the world, including numerous premieres, in iconic screening venues across the city such as Le Diamant, Méduse, and Cinéma Beaumont. Through its free outdoor screenings at Place D’Youville, FCVQ also makes cinema an accessible and unifying experience in the heart of the city. Because we deeply believe that “cinema belongs to everyone; cinema is for everyone!”

At FCVQ, we believe that cinema is an essential actor in sociopolitical life. Through the mirror it holds up to our realities, of course, but also through the empathy and hopes it inspires. A true social binder and vector of community, cinema is not only entertainment: it is what allows us both to reflect and to come together.
As the only major film festival in Québec’s political capital, FCVQ aims to become the most civic film event in the country, thanks to an artistic program designed around five major issues of our time: identity, immigration, gender equality, the environment, and Indigenous perspectives. Its programming brings imaginaries, cultures, and experiences into dialogue, with particular attention paid to stories that question our relationship with the world and with others.
Each edition welcomes more than 150 guests, filmmakers, craftspeople, and other film professionals, who come to exchange with the public through discussions, Q&As, masterclasses, and friendly 5 à 7 gatherings.
Beyond screenings, FCVQ is a place of encounters and discovery for the film community. Through its professional activities and its Campus dedicated to emerging talent, the festival fosters exchanges between emerging talent and industry professionals. Workshops, discussions, and networking activities allow participants to develop their projects, share ideas, and build lasting connections.
FCVQ is, above all, a celebration of cinema as a collective experience: watching films together, sharing their meaning through discussions with others, discovering new voices, and experiencing emotions on the big screen.
