The juries of the 15th edition
Official competition
Serving as Jury President, FCVQ is honoured to welcome renowned producer Roger Frappier, one of the most influential figures in Canadian cinema. Founder of Max Films, he has produced more than fifty feature films, including The Decline of the American Empire, Jesus of Montreal, and The Power of the Dog, which received twelve Academy Award nominations in 2022. Throughout his career, he has collaborated with leading filmmakers such as Denys Arcand, Denis Villeneuve, and Jane Campion, while helping to launch the careers of numerous emerging talents.
The jury will also include Kim Lévesque Lizotte, an acclaimed comedian, columnist, author, and screenwriter. Behind celebrated productions such as Les Simone, Before the Crash, and The Fireflies Are Gone, she has established herself as one of the most distinctive voices in contemporary Québec television. Her work has earned her several honours, including two Rockie Awards.
The jury will benefit from the expertise of Véronique Barbe, a fiction editor with nearly twenty years of experience. Her impressive career has led her to work on acclaimed productions such as Big Little Lies, Sharp Objects, and Heated Rivalry. Her work has been recognized by the Emmy Awards, the ACE Eddie Awards, the Canadian Cinema Editors Awards, and the Canadian Screen Awards.
FCVQ is also honoured to welcome director and screenwriter Louise Archambault, whose filmography has garnered international recognition. Her film Gabrielle, selected to represent Canada at both the Academy Awards and the Golden Globes, along with her recent hit One Summer, which became the highest-grossing Canadian film from Québec since 2019, reflects the reach and sensitivity of her work.
Finally, director and screenwriter Jean-François Leblanc will bring his unique perspective to this exceptional jury. After seeing his short films shine at major international festivals and earn more than twenty awards, he achieved tremendous success with his first feature film, Vile and Miserable, which won three Iris Awards and is already considered a future cult classic of Québec cinema.
Short Films Competition
After a double DEC in humanities and cinema at the Cégep Saint-Laurent where she won a short story writing contest, Anouk Davan started a bachelor’s degree in cinema and digital culture at Université Laval in 2026.
Born in Morocco, Saloua arrived in Quebec at the age of 2. Passionate about cinema and the performing arts, she has practiced theater, photography and videography since high school. She also made a short documentary on the experience of graduates, then began her studies in cinema.
Élizabeth was involved in the organization of the Languages and Multimedia Festival as well as in the short film festival Copie Zéro. She was also the recipient of the Lieutenant Governor’s Medal in 2023 for her involvement with her school. Élizabeth is currently studying at the Cégep de Lévis in the Cinema program.
Evelyn Coulombe-Tremblay is completing her first year of college studies in arts, letters and communications in the creativity and media profile at Cégep Limoilou. She intends to pursue her studies in cinema and digital culture at the Université Laval.
Guido Zamperlini, a film graduate from the Cégep de Sainte-Foy, has already distinguished himself with selected films, one of which was awarded at a student festival, as well as his experience as a juror at the Prix collégial du cinéma québécois (PCCQ). Passionate about powerful stories, he combines artistic sensitivity and technical rigor. Determined to continue in this field, he is heading towards a career as a director.
