For its 2026 edition, the Quebec Student Film Festival (FFEQ) welcomed a jury of film industry professionals to present the awards for its 24th edition. This selection of award-winning short films is being showcased once again as part of this special CEGEP/University Night at Cinéma Beaumont.
Held in March 2026, the FFEQ is an annual film festival organized by students at Université Laval. The festival highlights the best French-language student short films, offering a unique platform for the talent and creativity of the next generation of filmmakers.
The screening will be introduced by Dominik Harvey, President of the FFEQ.

Loïc must welcome his grandmother, Hélène, into the family home following the progression of her dementia. While waiting for Hélène to move into a specialized care facility, Loïc is forced to help his mother, Sylvie, through this significant stage of life. He soon becomes an unwilling witness to the tensions that gradually take hold within the family home. One evening, overwhelmed by the situation, Loïc decides to briefly escape. On his way back, his cold and wandering night takes an unexpected turn when he learns that Hélène has disappeared as well.
Eliott Marquis
Eliott Marquis is a director and screenwriter who is soon to graduate from the Bachelor’s program in Film Studies at UQAM. He also completed the Certificate in Film Screenwriting at UQAM in 2023. During his studies, Eliott had the opportunity to direct the film Les Lundis Endimanchés, which was presented at festivals including the Festival Émergence de Montréal. He now presents his latest film, Les toits blancs, which recently received the Best Fiction Award at the FFEQ.

Katherine Messier is a Québécois and Guatemalan filmmaker who graduated from the Université du Québec à Montréal. Focusing her practice on directing, she is particularly interested in the representation of women on screen as well as her Hispanic heritage, which she explores through intimate and poetic approaches.

Charlie Guèvremont, a Quebec City–based artist and filmmaker, specializes in stop-motion animation, 2D, and screenwriting. They are currently completing a bachelor’s degree in Arts and Science of Animation at Université Laval. Originally from Lévis, Samuelle has been passionate about the performing arts from a very young age. Dancing since the age of three, she grew up immersed in the world of art and culture throughout her childhood and teenage years. After eight years of Dance Studies and one year of higher education at the École de danse contemporaine de Montréal, she was diagnosed with an illness that forced her to completely stop dancing. Having to change direction, she is now a Cinema student at Cégep de Lévis, where she has discovered a new passion for filmmaking.Her first three short films have earned her five Audience Choice Awards, an FNC Coup de Cœur Award at FFEQ, and nine festival selections.

From a very young age, Frédérique has been passionate about the arts, whether it be theatre, poetry, music, or cinema. She is constantly seeking out new artistic discoveries. During high school, she studied in the Creative Arts program at Collège Mariste de Québec (2019–2024), where she discovered her passion for filmmaking. She then pursued studies in Arts, Literature and Communication, with a specialization in Cinema, at Cégep de Lévis. Since her first year, she has received four Audience Choice Awards, one selection at the Festival de Courts Métrages Indépendants de Boucherville, two selections at the Festival du Film Étudiant de Québec, and one selection at Court d’un soir.

Stellie Verreault is a Videographer Traveller student at Cégep de Lévis, as well as a filmmaker and photographer from Bellechasse, Québec. She has practiced photography for several years, a discipline that has shaped her cinematic perspective. Having often hosted musical shows and festivals, she places great importance on communication and human connections. Her work explores the intersection between cinema, languages—particularly Spanish—and reality, through a sensitive and human-centered approach.

Originally from Lévis, Gaël has been passionate about the performing arts from a very young age. After making his theatrical debut at La Maison Jaune school, he immersed himself in multimedia creation throughout his high school years. Now completing his studies in the Videographer Traveller program (a program focused on videography and languages) at Cégep de Lévis, he brings his stage experience behind the camera while continuing his acting career with the Julie Breton agency. His first two short films have already received two Audience Choice Awards, confirming his talent for cinematic storytelling.

Montrealers enjoy parks, balconies, cafés, and bike paths, sharing a rich cultural diversity. But a truck filled with orange cones disrupts the neighbourhoods, leaving behind construction sites that transform the city. The built heritage disappears, replaced by buildings so tall that they cast Montreal into shadow. In a cyberpunk era, the streets are dominated by AI towers that erase the last traces of the past. A rebellion calls for radical change. When everything collapses, nature reclaims its place. Among the ruins, a solarpunk community emerges, where life adapts to its environment.

Gabrielle is an emerging director and editor based in Montreal. Her work is characterized by an immersive approach driven by image, music, and rhythm. She uses contemplative storytelling to create narratives that are both socially engaged and poetic. Her films explore themes related to architecture, urban transformations, and social issues. She combines her distinctive creative vision with strong technical expertise in post-production. Passionate about editing as a space for invention, she develops hybrid worlds where documentary and experimentation intersect. Curious and bold, she brings her projects to completion through a rigorous process while leaving room for improvisation and discovery. She enjoys experimenting with a variety of tools, incorporating visual effects, animation, and video collage in service of her artistic vision.
