Presented across four programs and dedicated to showcasing emerging talent from Quebec and around the world, the Short Film Competition offers a window onto the world for anyone who loves bold, impactful storytelling.
The Plein(s) Écran(s) Audience Award for Best Short Film will be presented to one of the 33 Quebec and international films in the Official Competition, as selected by audience vote. The jury will also present the Spira and Paraloeil Award for Best Quebec Short Film.
The awards ceremony will take place on Sunday, September 13, at 11:00 a.m. in the Salle Multi at Méduse.
The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the filmmakers featured in the program.

Guillaume Collin is a director and producer. He has directed the short films Everything Will Be Alright and Just You and Me. His films deal with the theme of intimacy in love relationships and families. He is a Berlinale Talents alumni. His newest film Babatoura (2021) won the Best International Short Film Award at the Torino Film Festival.

Her first short film Don’t cry Halima (2023) won several awards, including the Prix du Jury at the Festival Premiers Plans in Angers.Produced by Alta Rocca Films, Who cares about Chimene? is her second short film.

Welcome to a place where the houses have holes, tomatoes are ticking time bombs and snails wander the streets in search of a safe space. In Paradaïz, Sarajevo-born artist Matea Radic uses absurdist animation, archival images and her own slippery childhood memories to explore the real meaning of home.

Matea Radic is a multidisciplinary artist born in Sarajevo and based in Winnipeg, Canada. She fled her birthplace as a child in the summer of 1992 and has been interested in the concept of home and attachment ever since, infusing her art with a signature mix of nostalgia and dark humour. She has explored a variety of mediums, including illustration, painting and sculpture, and has animated music videos, notably a posthumous clip for Jim Croce. The animated short Paradaïz, produced by the NFB, is her first film.
