Avant la mort is a musical documentary directed by Edgar Fritz that delves into the creative process of the band Enfants Sauvages.
The short film follows the members of the group as they develop and produce their punk opera Avant la mort, an ambitious and unconventional performance created to bring their third album to the stage.
Through immersive footage and privileged behind-the-scenes access, the documentary explores the transformation of an album into a complete stage work, where music, staging, and performance come together to create an experience that is both intimate and explosive. Avant la mort captures the unique show presented in Québec City in the summer of 2025.
Hex
Set in Norway’s legendary black metal scene, Hex follows three young women— Nikoline, Victoria, and Johanna—who form the band Witch Club Satan without knowing how to play a single instrument. Bond by a three-year pact, they commit to becoming witches and musicians, using black metal to unleash raw, female power. But as the band gains momentum, it also gains a will of its own, testing their unity, values, and vision of freedom. Haunted by the echoes of historical witch trials, the film asks: what does it mean to be a free woman today—and are we still condemning witches to silence?

Edgar Fritz
Edgar Fritz is a director and screenwriter from Québec City whose work moves between essay film, fiction, and documentary. Since the early 2000s, he has directed two feature films, documentary series, and numerous short films screened at various festivals. His work focuses primarily on creative processes across disciplines such as cinema, architecture, circus, theatre, music, literature, and visual arts. Alongside these projects, Fritz has also created video segments for Télé-Québec and independently directed music videos.

Maja Holand
Maja Holand (1985) boasts a diverse background in film production andcinematography. Having completed her education in both documentary filmmaking and
cinematography at the Norwegian Film School in Lillehammer, she immersed herself in a variety of
projects at NRK. Her expertise ranges from filming, editing, and color correction across a wide
spectrum of productions: dramas, documentaries, humor.
